“Late”

Posted in decision, university by edc on 27 October, 2008

So I applied for university through VTAC and it was an easy process. I applied to do the University of Melbourne Bachelor of Science course, and filled in the rest of the preferences from with a bunch of filler subjects I didn’t really want to do but put in for the heck of it. It’s not that I’m not choosing other backup subjects I might like to do in the (unlikely) event that I might not get into my B.S. degree (pun not intended) – but there really isn’t anything else I can see myself studying nor any other fields that I can see myself working in.

Anyway, that was ages ago from today, and since then I’ve already gotten my confirmation in the mail, blah, blah, blah. And since the time of my VTAC application I’d convinced myself (or so I thought) that Melbourne was the way to go – besides, everyone seems to be saying Sydney’s the place to visit and Melbourne’s the place to live, etc.. the debate goes on.

So today – yeah – I was thinking about Sydney.

And, after those weeks of convincing myself that Melbourne was the place to go – through research on google, etc… (You see, I’m an Australian citizen finishing school in Malaysia — I’ve never been to Melbourne) I had finally convinced myself to think otherwise. I don’t know, why?

And so I make my way to the UAC website to begin applying for the University of Sydney, and the first thing on the screen is how I would have to pay a whopping A$130 to apply! The excuse: “late fees”. I mean, my application of the University of Sydney was merely out of sympathy for the place!

So much for applying to the University of Sydney, looks like I’m locked in for Melbourne. Besides, Melbourne’s the one with the synchrotron.
